You’re probably not surprised that the Dig is partial to creatures on two wheels. It’s true; in addition to our plights as poor oppressed creatives and progressive souls, there’s the practical and personal reality of matters. Nearly half of us roll to work every day. And so …

With a successful Boston Bike Week behind us, the elite Mayor’s Cup on Saturday (September 20), and the all-inclusive Hub on Wheels this Sunday (September 21), we figure now is the ideal moment to formally join the pro-cycle chorus. Not only as cheerleaders, but by addressing prehistoric problems in new ways that hopefully spur conversation and action. To do that this time around, we consulted advocates, looked to our own in-house experts, and wrapped up our reporting with serviceable news and an illustrated road companion for the Boston bike community.

Finally, while it’s fair to call this a “bike issue,” we consider it more of a declaration of solidarity with folks on spokes. Over the next several months, the Dig will feature more alternative cycle-centric coverage in general, as well as additional features on related topics.
